Summary: ”In 1967, Czech new wave film maker, Jan Schmidt, released his archetypal post-apocalyptic film, The End of August at the Hotel Ozone. Through a series of mysterious flukes Schmidt's film was screened at the Pesaro film festival where it received a prize from the Pope. That same year, the film was shown at the science fiction film festival in Trieste. There it began to receive international recognition.
