Snitow, Alan. (Added Author). Barlow, Maude. (Added Author). Kaufman, Deborah. (Added Author). Yamamoto, Kenji, 1951- (Added Author). Snitow-Kaufman Productions (Added Author).

Summary: Explores how ownership and control of water figure into community resistance against corporations which are rapidly buying local water supplies. Looks at the conflict between public stewardship and private profit. Examines environmental and human rights issues associated with governments and companies making the world's fresh water supply into a commodity at the expense of local communities. Maude Barlow speaks at the Third World Water Forum in Kyoto concerning issues about water conservation, privatization, ownership, and control. Features the community of Stockton, California and a coalition opposing Mayor Podesto's efforts to privatize water services, the riots against water privatization in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and a grassroots movement opposing hydroelectric projects in Rajasthan, India.
