This is the first volume in a three-volume series on contemporary indigenous art and media. It provides discourse on art and media that responds to indigenous contemporary cultures and traditional worldviews by indigenous artists in Canada. The editors present the idea that an indigenous media cosmology is “a model of media ecology based on the epistemologies, histories, traditions, communications systems, art, and culture” of indigenous people, disregarding Eurocentric perspectives of media ecology and presenting a new media landscape based on indigenous ways of thinking. In this collection, seven contributors provide a look into their aboriginal worldview. Distributed by Michigan State U. Press. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
