Refugee Camp : Simulating the Refugee Experience

Summary: In this revealing documentary, a group of Calgary university students experience 24 hours simulating life in a refugee camp, using a mock camp and actors playing rebels, camp officials and soldiers. Each student is given a profile and, throughout their journey on foot in an isolated, unfamiliar location outside the city, are interrogated, harassed and have orders screamed at them. They are told that if they veer off the largely unmarked path, they could step on land mines. They are robbed twice by rebels. The women are instructed to wear veils, keep their eyes down and not speak, and are then sexually intimidated by rebels. For the students, it's an unforgettable experience walking in the shoes of so many others in this world.
