Kurds : The Forgotten People

Melamed, Kit (director). Studer, David (producer). Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (Added Author).

Summary: This program traces U.S. involvement in the plight of the Kurds in Iraq. Kurds are the largest ethnic group in the world that don't have their own country. The government of Saddam Hussein tried to exterminate Kurd settlements in northern Iraq in the late 1980s with deadly showers of cyanide and mustard gases. That's when American officials grew concerned about weapons of mass destruction in the hands of Hussein. The concern stopped there. The investigation asks the question: could the government of President Ronald Reagan have prevented events that led to the Gulf War and to the current occupation of Iraq?
