Justice In America : Two Cases, Two Verdicts (Rittenhouse and Arbery) January 2022

Summary: Two murder cases highlighting issues of vigilantism and racial injustice were heard in U.S. courts in November 2021. Kyle Rittenhouse, who was just 17 years old at the time, was accused of shooting two men and injuring another during a racial justice demonstration in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Meanwhile, three men stood accused of shooting Ahmaud Arbery, a black jogger in a Georgia neighbourhood. In both cases, the defendants pleaded self defence. But the cases had very different outcomes. The verdicts came just days apart with Rittenhouse going free and guilty verdicts for Arbery's killers.
