Summary:

"A community that refuses to be undone": Catherine Hernandez discusses her novel Scarborough with actor Malia Baker who is defending the book on Canada Reads 2022. The novel tells the story of three children, and the adults around them, growing up in a struggling neighbourhood in Scarborough, Ont. The book is also a Canadian Screen Award-nominated feature film. Baker, known for her role on The Baby-Sitters Club, interviews Hernandez before the Canada Reads 2022 debates, which take place March 28-31. Important note for teachers: This novel includes references to child abuse and racial slurs.
